How it all began

Background

Growing up in a household with creativity and working towards social impact, I am intrigued by how systems work and how people influence each other. I consider myself an activist for Freedom of Expression and Human Rights for Myanmar. I explore ideas, concepts, and stand against violence and hate towards people.

First Design Job In Myanmar

In 2015, I worked at a social enterprise in Myanmar. I was assigned to work on a design research project on small holder farmers since agriculture sector in Myanmar employs 50% of the population. We conducted a 6 weeks long design research to uncover opportunities and design solutions for the farmers.

The one-on-one interviews I did with farmers and the whole experience opened my eyes about how even with lack of resources, education and infrastructure, many of the farmers are hacking their way through the farming businesses to support their families, and to break even. Although most of them are in debt because of the country’s political system keeping them in a loop of poverty, they use the little resources that are left to produce the best quality they can for the market.

After learning more about the economy of Myanmar and seeing the possible ways to be apart of positive change, I decided to spend more time in my country and I joined a design agency called Nexlabs where I was able to work on FinTech, IoT and service design projects to help local businesses be sustainable.
